How to Setup the Group Inviter Greeter
The Group Greeter/Inviter service greets visitors at your location and invites them to your group. It works through a Group Inviter Device that you rez on your land: the device senses who comes near, and your bot does the greeting.
This applies to both Shared Bot Groups and groups running on your own Full Bot. With a shared bot the device matters even more, because the bot is not standing on your land at all.
What You Need
- A group already added to LifeBots with the Group Greeter/Inviter service enabled.
- A Group Inviter Device from the LifeBots in-world store.
- Somewhere to rez it, and the ability to rez objects there.
1. Enable Group Inviter for Your Group
Do this first. The device will not offer your group until the website side is switched on.
- Go to the Dashboard.
- Click Group Inviter in the ADDONS section of the left panel.
- Find your group and enable it.
🔹 If the page shows No Groups Available, the group does not have the Greeter service. Add the service to the group first.
2. Get a Group Inviter Device
Visit the LifeBots in-world store at Goa 30, 49, 3599 and pick up a Group Inviter Device.
It comes as a screen with a choice of stand:
- Horizontal stand for a desk, counter, or low display.
- Vertical stand for a floor standing sign.
3. Rez and Link the Device
- Rez the device where visitors arrive, such as your landing point or shop entrance.
- It registers itself with LifeBots automatically. There is no key or code to copy anywhere.
- Touch the device to open its owner menu.
- Click Select Group and choose your group from the list.
🔹 If the menu says "No groups available. Please enable GroupInviter for at least one group on the website", go back to step 1. After enabling it, touch the device and click Reload Config.
🔹 Only you see this menu. Visitors touching the device get the greeting, not your settings.
4. Choose What Happens to Visitors
Back on the website, open Group Inviter and select your group.
Global Settings
- Invite Range sets how close someone must come, from 1 to 100 meters. The default is 5 meters.
- Ignored Avatars is a list of people the device should skip. Put your own staff here so they are not greeted every shift.
🔹 Start small. A wide range on a busy parcel greets people walking past who never intended to visit you, and being spammed is what makes residents mute a group.
Invite Settings
There are three actions. Each one is switched on separately, so you can use any combination.

Limits
Each action has its own Limits setting, which controls how often the same person is targeted:

| Once | First visit only. The usual choice for a group invite. |
| Twice (1st and 2nd visit) | Two attempts, in case the first was missed. |
| Always | Every single visit. Use sparingly. |
| On Touch Only | Never automatic. Only when the visitor touches the device themselves. |
🔹 On Touch Only is the polite option. Nobody is approached uninvited, and only people who deliberately touch the screen get anything. It pairs well with an eye catching slideshow.
5. Test It
- Touch the device.
- Click Test Invite.
You should receive the group invite, message, or item offer you configured. This proves the whole chain works before a real visitor ever sees it.
🔹 If the test arrives but real visitors get nothing, your Invite Range is probably too small or the Limits are set to On Touch Only.
6. Use the Screen for Advertising (Optional)
The device is also a slideshow screen, so it can advertise while it works.
- Drop your own textures into the device's contents.
- Touch the device and click Slideshow.
- Click Refresh so it picks up the new textures.
From the same menu you can set:
- Speed: 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 60 seconds per image.
- Sequential or Shuffle order.
- Fade On or Fade Off for transitions.
- Show Default or Hide Default for the built in LifeBots image.
Use Set Logo to put your own logo on the frame.
Checking Who You Invited
On the website, open Group Inviter and look at Group Inviter Statistics. You get an Invitee History listing each person with their Total Invites, First Invite and Last Invite, and an Invite History with the date, time and region of each one.
🔹 Clear History wipes this record. Because the Once and Twice limits are counted from this history, clearing it makes everyone eligible to be invited again.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to Check |

| Device menu says No groups available | Group Inviter is not enabled for the group on the website. Enable it, then click Reload Config on the device. |
| Nothing happens to visitors | Check a group is selected on the device, and that at least one action is switched on. |
| Only some visitors are greeted | Returning visitors are skipped when the limit is Once or Twice. That is intended. |
| Visitors are missed entirely | Raise the Invite Range. It defaults to 5 meters. |
| One person is never greeted | Check they are not in Ignored Avatars, and that they have not already reached the limit. |
| Invites go to the wrong role | Change Select Role under Send Group Invite. |
| Test Invite works, real visitors get nothing | Range too small, or the limit is set to On Touch Only. |
| Invites are sent but nobody joins | The bot needs group role powers to invite members. Give its role permission to invite. |
| Device seems dead | Touch it and click Reload Config. Check the group has not expired. |
