How to Manage the Group API

Each group can have its own Access Code. External applications use it to authenticate LifeBots API requests for that group, so they can read and act on the group without your account password.

1. Open the API Details Card

  1. Go to the Dashboard.
  2. Open Groups and click the group you want to configure. This opens the Manage Group page.
  3. Click the API Details card.

The card shows its current state at a glance: Access Code Set if the group already has one, or No Access Code if it does not.

🔹 You need permission to manage this group's services. Without it the card shows a View Only chip and will not open. Sub accounts should ask the group owner.

2. Set an Access Code

Clicking the card opens the Group API Access Code window.

  1. Click Generate Random Code (recommended), or type your own into the Access Code field.
  2. Click Save Access Code.

🔹 Important: The code must be between 6 and 32 characters. The field will not save outside that range.

3. Copy and Store the Code

  1. Click Copy Code to copy it to your clipboard.
  2. Paste it into your password manager or another secure store.
  • Anyone with this code can interact with your group through the API.
  • Never share it publicly or paste it into a public channel.
  • You can change the code at any time. Generating a new one immediately stops the old one from working, so update anything using it.

Using the API
